A fantastic opportunity to join a high performing GP surgery, looking to welcome a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated physician associate to the team.
You will work closely with our well established clinical team, including our
GPs, two physician associates, an advanced nurse practitioner and a paramedic,
to help provide clinical care and manage acute demand.
We are seeking someone to work 37.5 hours per week, across four or five days (Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday).

Main duties of the job
As a Physician Associate you will be acting within your professional boundaries, providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP. You will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice, in consultation with the duty GP. You will work with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients.
Mentorship and supervision will be provided by designated senior medical personnel. The level and type of supervision will be dependent on the post holders skills and knowledge and determined by the organisations clinical governance arrangements. You will follow recommended annual appraisals and continuing professional development set out by the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA).

Delivering a high standard of patient care using advanced autonomous clinical skills with in-depth theoretical knowledge and evidence based practice
Managing a clinical caseload
Dealing with presenting patients needs in a primary care setting
Providing clinical leadership where appropriate within the practice
Supporting other members of the team to develop and maintain clinical skills appropriate to your role and expertise
Providing first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems
Taking comprehensive patient histories and providing physical examinations, to establish a working diagnosis and management plan (in partnership with the patient)
Consulting and referring patients to other appropriate healthcare professionals both internally and externally as required
Delivering integrated patient centred-care through appropriate working with the wider primary care and social care networks
Participating in all treatment and preventative healthcare services in the practice as delegated and agreed by the supervising clinicians(s)
Recommending and explaining appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment
Requesting and interpreting results of laboratory investigations when necessary
Instructing and educating patients in preventative health care
Fully documenting all aspects of patient care and completing all required paperwork for legal and administrative purposes
Contributing to the clinical development of the practice by developing a special interest
Helping to establish appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions, ensuring compliance with NSF guidelines, QOF and other quality initiatives as required.
